(Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has selected the Clearwell eDiscovery Platform to streamline its electronic discovery processes. Clearwell enables USPTO officials to efficiently manage and analyze documents through search, review, tagging and exporting. Clearwell’s strengths include advanced search, advanced analytics and the ability to automatically eliminate duplicate information – which play a key role in cost reduction. In addition, Clearwell provides users with the ability to review, tag and export documents. “With millions of U.S. patents and trademarks in force, not to mention hundreds of thousands of new applications each year, the amount of electronically stored information that the PTO generates and manages is astounding,” said Gigi Schumm, vice president and general manager for Symantec Public Sector. “Clearwell turns the complex and costly eDiscovery process into a streamlined, manageable and cost-efficient operation for the agency.” The Clearwell eDiscovery Platform is an enterprise-class solution that was purpose-built for eDiscovery. With Clearwell, customers can utilize several features such as transparent search, discussion threads and people analytics to significantly accelerate early case assessment, defensibly eliminate irrelevant documents and false positives, and rapidly perform a first-pass review. Clearwell also lets customers view all related documents in context, perform one-click tagging, redact documents and apply reason codes in order to increase review throughput and consistency.
